Carmignano Riserva, Le Farnete: Jewel of Tuscany.
Carmignano Riserva, Le Farnete is an exceptional Italian red wine produced in Tuscany. This wine-growing region of Italy, world-renowned for its quality wines, offers ideal conditions for viticulture, with a Mediterranean climate and a diversity of soils, making Tuscany a complex terroir. Le Farnete's Carmignano Riserva is produced in the small wine-growing area of Carmignano, a Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) located a few kilometres north-west of Florence. On clay-limestone soils, the Le Farnete estate produces a racy, elegant Carmignano, a true Tuscan gem.
Carmignano, a blended wine: A local speciality.
Le Farnete's Carmignano Riserva is made from a blend of the region's king grape variety, Sangiovese, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Present in the area since the 18th century, the Cabernet Sauvignon used in the blend is a local peculiarity. In fact, since 1716 and a decree issued by Como 3 de' Medici, winegrowers have been allowed to produce wines made from a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. This authorisation makes Carmignano a special denomination, as it is the only one that can produce wines made from a combination of these two grape varieties, while at the same time benefiting from DOCG status, acquired in 1990.
