An adventure started
in 1991 in Penthaz...

Alfavin.ch was born from a passion cultivated and shared within our family for many years.

Nothing is better than when passion drives us. Wine is a product of nature, cultivated by passionate artisans, to be shared and enjoyed with family, friends and valued business clients.

As you may have often noted, a good bottle is rarely drunk alone. In a world that is becoming increasingly individualistic, good wine plays an even greater role in social relations ... it may be a sensory pleasure, aesthetic pleasure and intellectual pleasure.

Our friends, the producers, have been a source of inspiration and motivation for us in developing this online sales website. For many years we have developed special relationships and trust with them. Wine producers are unpretentious, authentic, loyal and, most of all, passionate about their craft. Every moment spent in their company, in their area or elsewhere, becomes an unforgettable experience of sharing. Ask them about their own history or that of their area and there is always something to learn about life.

wine shop lausanne

The name "alfavin" embodies our philosophy about wine. The word alfa, a term of Greek origin (it is spelt with a "ph" or an "f"), evokes the best quality. "Vin" is simply the French word for wine. For us this name signifies a dimension and a specific commitment. It symbolises what we want to offer our family, our friends and our customers ... only the best.

We seek to provide a superior wine experience for our passionate customers while supporting our equally passionate wine makers with an impeccable service. All of this for a competitive price but with the comfort of delivery to your home or office or directly to your clients.

Through this site, we hope to communicate warmly with you and to fully share our passion for great wines.

Alfavin.ch has received in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 the award for the best Wine Shop for Italian wines and Spanish wines in the Canton de Vaud, by Wine Searcher.

Jean-Daniel

Jean-Daniel, of Italian and Spanish origin, was born in Lausanne several decades ago. In 1991, when his father opened the Oenothèque de la Treille in Penthaz, he was already handling the wine bottle like no other. Nevertheless, he decided to work outside the family business. After a few years in the oil industry, an MBA at IMD and then a few years in finance, he finally decided in 2016 to take over the family business which became alfavin.ch. Jean-Daniel is a graduate of the Changins wine school and loves to share his passion. Working as close as possible to his values, Jean-Daniel will tell you anecdotes gathered over the years and enriching encounters with passionate winemakers. His favorites: Pistillo (Poderi San Lazarro) and the old Nelin (Clos Mogador) for the whites. As for red wines, Moros (Claudio Quarta) in Puglia, Amarone Ca'Coato (Antolini) in Veneto, Oreno (Sette Ponti) in Tuscany, Clos Mogador (René Barbier) in Priorat and Kurni (Oasi degli Angeli) in the Marche.

Olivier alfavin wine shop

Olivier

Originally from France, he started at alfavin.ch on Labor Day, (you can't make this up...) Olivier is above all a passionate and epicurean. He studied and learned about wine in Tain L'Hermitage in France. Thanks to rich experiences with Anne-Sophie Pic at the Beau Rivage Palace, the Palafitte in Neuchâtel and many others, Olivier has developed his knowledge and his desire to share around wine. After 12 years in the hotel and restaurant business, Olivier was looking for a new chapter in his professional life. His meeting with Jean-Daniel, where passion and professionalism are the key words, allows him today to continue to explore the world of wine and to share with you his advice and experiences. Her favorites: Greco di Tufo (Claudio Quarta) and Nelin (Clos Mogador) for white wines. For red wines, ES Primitivo (Gianfranco Fino) in Puglia, Il Grande Silenzio (Fosso Corno) in Abruzzo and Kurni (Oasi degli Angeli) in Marche.

Mauro Alfavin

Mauro

He was born and raised in Sardinia, the most beautiful island in the world (well, that's Mauro saying it...). At the age of 18 he decided to go and work in England to learn the language but also to make his first steps in the restaurant business. His professional career was enriched by experiences in Italy and Switzerland, notably at the Grand Park Hotel in Gstaad and the Crans Hotel & Spa in Crans Montana. Passionate about wine, Mauro decided to consolidate the skills he had acquired in the restaurant business by obtaining the WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) diploma. After more than 15 years in the restaurant business, he chose a new professional path by joining the Alfavin.ch team. His meeting with the team, as well as the project to take over La Bottega Del Vino in Bulle in the Canton of Fribourg, finally convinced him. His favorites? For Italy: Renzo de Podere San Lazzaro and Moros de Cantina Moros by Claudio Quarta. For Spain: Com Tu by René Barbier - Clos Mogador
