Clos Mogador: The jewel of Priorat in Catalonia
Clos Mogador is located in the south of Catalonia, in the hinterland of Tarragona. Located in the heart of the Priorat wine region, this estate was created in the 1980s when René Barbier and a few friends decided to restore a forgotten winegrowing area to its former glory. On schistous and arid soils in a Mediterranean climate, Clos Mogador produces wines that are complex, dense and balanced. A pioneer in the reconstruction of the vineyards of the Priorat and Montsant wine regions, Clos Mogador is today one of the jewels of this Catalan wine country.
A symphony of grape varieties for a unique complexity
Clos Mogador is a Priorat red wine made from several grape varieties, including Grenache Noir and Carignan, two indigenous grape varieties that are well adapted to this terroir. They are complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. This combination offers complexity and aromatic richness with notes of blackberries and blueberries, garrigue and a touch of spice. The wine is full-bodied on the palate with present and elegant tannins. A well-balanced wine, with great finesse, and designed for ageing.
A wine for those in search of authenticity
This grand cru from the Priorat wine region is aimed at lovers of complex, elegant wines with controlled power. A wine that shows the full potential of the terroir from which it comes and that highlights the work and care taken by the Barbier brothers in the vineyards. Clos Mogador, a wine that will seduce the most demanding palates, a wine to be kept for a few years in the cellar, but which can be enjoyed in its youth after decanting. A Spanish red wine that goes wonderfully with game dishes or strong cheeses. Clos Mogador, a wine to have in your cellar.Additional tasting notes
