A "Super Apulian", as defined by Monica Larner of The Wine Advocate (Robert Parker). SUD del SUD is a blend bringing together each year the best of what the vintage can offer from the vineyards of the estate. Each year, the main indigenous grape varieties, Negroamaro and Primitivo are complemented with a selection of other varieties to best express this sense of "SOUTH".
A LABEL... WITH A STORY TO TELL
The SUD del SUD label represents the sculpture "Germinazioni 1", the first piece in the artistic trilogy created by Ercole Pignatelli, an artist from Salento. At a height of 12 metres, the statue was donated by Claudio Quarta to the city of Lecce on June 28, 2010 and is located at the main entrance to the city.
As for the vine, the germination of the Baroque culture comes from the earth: the wolf - symbol of the city of Lecce, the marquee, the farms, then the vine leaves and the bunches of grapes, up to the top with two birds: white to symbolize western culture, black for overseas culture. On the sculpture, the white bird stands near to the black bird.
The Mediterranean is the link between the two shores of the sea. The same concept of union and balance is found in the wine, which unites indigenous grape varieties with international grape varieties, in search of great harmony from a common base: the terroir where the vines are grown. A wine that transmits an important message of integration, and in which the terroir becomes a protagonist again.
