Di Majo Norante has been producing wine since 1800, a task handed down from father to son near Campomarino, in the region of Molise, north of the Gargano promontory. The current generation is headed up by Luigi and Alessio Di Majo who, with the help of the famous oenologist Ricardo Cotarella, create wines from the 210 acres of plots located on the former fiefdom of the marquis of Norante Santa Cristina. By respecting a traditional approach which is attentive to the natural cycles and the typicality of each grape variety, Di Majo Norante creates wines organically and using a mixture of ancient and modern techniques. A region with centuries-old, even millennia-old, winemaking traditions, the countryside in the Campomarino region rests on soft, partly sandy ground, ventilated by a summer breeze which, together with the ground, makes for framework conditions which are particularly suitable for winegrowing. Using the guiding principle of the search for typicality by way of the reintroduction of old, nearly-extinct varietals, to which Di Majo Norante applies modern techniques in order to use them to their maximum potential, the Molise winery has embarked on a courageous path by creating fine, high-quality wines which are regularly awarded by Robert Parker and Gambero Rosso, at naturally competitive prices, in the image of the excellent Contado, Don Luigi or Apianae.
