AND NOW A PRIORAT FROM BARBER JR!
A region on the wild hills above Tarragona, near the northeast coast of Spain, Priorat has become, over the last two or three decades one of Spain's most prestigious vineyards. This prestige, has been due mostly to Rene Barbier, a French native of Côtes-du-Rhone, who settled there in the 1980s and whose wines have joined the elite Iberian wines, thanks to his "Clos Mogador". Now his son, Rene Barbier Junior along with his wife Sara Perez, both winemakers, operate their own domain for several years in the slate hills of Priorat. The Partida Pedrera (100% Grenache), produced by the talented couple, is the fruit of his work and his passion. An exceptional wine with fresh minerality coming from the slate. The grapes are pressed by feet and are fermented slowly in oak casks. A Grenache which develops so dense, rich and powerful. Very aromatic, it has many features and complexities of the wines of Priorat, whilst being more affordable and easy to drink than the wines usually produced in this region. Its colour is deep garnet red, the nose is delicate with hints of flowers and berries. On the palate, it is a real explosion of fruit, with remarkable lingering flavour. Enjoy it with pork tenderloin and porcini mushrooms, quail stuffed with foie gras, rabbit stew or roast guinea fowl.
