The Ca'Marcanda estate is located not far from Bolgheri. Angelo Gaja acquired this property in 1996 and planted about 120 hectares of vines there. The choice of grape varieties was based on a selection of international plants, namely Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This region of Italy offers an ideal climate for the cultivation of these grape varieties. Nevertheless, Angelo Gaja wishes to produce wines that express the terroir, while remaining elegant and fresh.
Angelo Gaja is a renowned producer in Barbaresco in Piedmont. He took over the family estate in 1961. It was in the mid-90s that he decided to buy an estate in Tuscany.
