Produced at the Ulmo estate in Menfi on the island's south-west coast, this Italian white wine has been around since 1994. A symbol of change in Sicilian viticulture, it was born of the Planeta estate's desire to produce a great white wine from an international grape variety. With centuries of experience in Sicily, the family now at the head of the estate has been making wine since the mid-1980s. The first vines were planted in 1985 in the Menfi area near the fortress of Ulmo. Today, with five estates spread across the island, Planeta is one of the island's most renowned producers.
