It all began in 1999 for this estate, which has a long-standing reputation. Mariano Garcia and Javier Zaccagnini created Aalto Bodegas y Vinedos together with the desire from the outset to offer haute couture wines, representative of the Ribera del Duero. Mariano Garcia studied at the Madrid wine school and made his first vintage in 1968 at the legendary Bodegas Vega Sicilia. He was technical director for the next 30 years. He now runs the estate and from the outset entrusted the technical management to Javier Zaccagnini.
In 2006, the Masaveu and Nozaleda families, who own estates, joined Mariano and brought their know-how and experience to give the estate stability and sustainability.
Although the production premises were initially rented in Roa near Burgos, an estate was created in 2005 with the philosophy of being perfectly integrated into the region, minimalist and respectful of the environment. On the wine side, Mariano and Javier have always chosen to let the wine express its terroir with minimal human intervention. Today, Aalto Bodegas y Vinedos offers two red and one white wine. Quality and consistency define these wines and those who make them.
