Founded in 1960 by José Pariente, the eponymous Bodega is now run by the 3rd generation of winemakers: Martina and Ignacio Prieto Pariente. This family estate is located south of Valladolid in the wine region of Rueda in the village of La Seca, which means "drought". The vineyards of Bodega José Pariente are located along the Duero River, on the south bank, at an altitude of 700-800 metres, on flat, arid land consisting of gravel, sand and layers of limestone. The climate is harsh, with long, cold winters and hot, dry summers.

With respect for the environment and sustainable development as a guiding principle, Bodega José Pariente has for many years opted for organic viticulture. In the winery, the Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc grape varieties, the only ones used for wine production, are vinified and aged in stainless steel, wood and concrete vats.
