GRIFOLA, IN THE LAND OF MONTEPULCIANO
It is in the south of the Marche wine region that the Grifola vintage is born each year. Located in the small town of Offida in the heart of the Piceno, Poderi San Lazzaro continues to perpetuate the local wine-making traditions.
Little known in comparison to Tuscany or Piedmont, the Marche is a wine-growing area with a rich and ancient history as the first traces of vines date back to 1000 BC. It is here that the Montepulciano grape expresses its full potential and contributes to the value of Marche wines.
On soils composed mainly of clay and limestone, the Montepulciano of the Grifola vintage shows character here; it has rustic tannins, supported by a fresh structure and aromatic complexity. The work undertaken by Paolo and Elisabetta, both in the vineyards to obtain quality grapes and in the cellars for the vinification, places this wine among the best representatives of the Montepulciano grape.
