Born from a meeting between a bottle of wine and a young boy, Baglio di Pianetto had a destiny and a story all mapped out. The young boy, Count Paolo Marzotto, spent his holidays in Sicily and fell in love with the island. As he grew up, he discovered Sicilian wine and fell in love with it. Many years later and after a busy life, he decided to create a winery in the Sicily of his childhood. Located in Santa Cristina Gela in the countryside south of Palermo, Baglio di Pianetto was born in 1997. A year later, the estate acquired another winery on the island, located in the Val di Noto: Tenuta Baroni, in the south-east.

Now owned by the 2nd and 3rd generations of the family, Baglio di Pianetto covers a total of 160 hectares. Since the estate was founded, the aim has been to produce quality wines while striving to make production an ecological and sustainable model. Thus, through hard work and dedication, the estate successfully converted to organic farming in 2016.  To guarantee optimal quality, the vinification is carried out in the cellars located right next to the plots, the principle of gravity is used so as not to disturb the juices, the temperature is regulated naturally thanks to the rock in which the cellars were built. Similarly, the wines are aged in barrels and then in bottles 32 metres underground and are only sold when they are ready to drink, about 6 to 7 years later.
