Founded in 1832 by the Castarède family, the eponymous Armagnac distillery is the first trading company of France declared in Armagnac.

Established in the area for six generations (first Lavardac, then Mauléon-d’Armagnac later Bas Armagnac), Castarède has developed since 1832 16 hectares of vines comprising 3 white grape varieties: Ugni-Blanc, Folle Blanche and Colombard.

With an ageing period doubled compared to the legal minimum, two multi-century cellars enjoying remarkable isothermic conditions and a confidential and traditional production passed on from generation to generation, Castarède has become one of the most prestigious appellation.
