Located about twenty kilometres west of Florence, in the area of Carmignano, the Tenuta Le Farnete has been owned by the Pierazzuoli family since 1990. The north facing vineyard offers an ideal environment for Cabernet Sauvignon. On an area of 11 hectares, the soil is composed mainly of clay and quartz.

Enrico Pierazzuoli attaches great importance to the work in the vineyards. With a density of 6'250 ceps per hectare and a production of 1kg of grapes per plant, he ensures the best quality of grapes of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon for the production of Barco Reale and Carmignano. On each bottle it notes "a bottiglia di vino per ogni ceppo di vite" (a bottle of wine per vine). The production of grapes is certified organic since 2018.

The Medici family introduced Cabernet Sauvignon to the Carmignano area in the Middle Ages. Since the first "super Tuscans" of the late 20th century, the blends of Sangiovese and Cabernet were downgraded to "vino da tavola" – table wine, however the Carmignano, under the name Carmignano DOCG already accepted Cabernet Sauvignon as a grape variety.
