Located in a remote area of Tuscany, halfway between Florence and Rome in the heart of a valley near the village of Sarteano, the Tenuta di Trinoro is one of the wineries elevated to the rank of legend by collectors from all around the world.

Self-taught, and having made his bones under his famous friends Jean-Luc Thunevin (Château Valandraud) and Peter Sisseck (Dominio de Pingus), Andrea Franchetti has all the makings of a genius. Starting with the choice of location for his vineyards: totally isolated in terms of viticulture and at an altitude of between 500 and 600 metres, they consist of Bordeaux varieties planted by his hand in the early 1990s.

Then come the harvest and the winemaking itself. These are performed by hand and separately on each plot of land at the perfect level of ripeness (sometimes even as late as November, according to the plot!), then individually made into wine before being blended to create Franchetti’s unconventional, powerful wines with intense candied fruit flavours, in the image of his excellent first wine, Le Cupole.Along with his two accomplices, Thunevin and Sisseck, Andrea Franchetti is new forming a new guild of ambitious winemakers who don’t hesitate to shake up the rules of their respective winegrowing landscapes a little. The result is quite simply... spectacular !
