The name is derived from the summit of the Gran Sasso mountain, also known as the Corno Grande, or the Great Horn.
Colour : intense garnet-red with a pinkish sparkle.
Nose : complex, elegant and fresh aromas. Notes of dark fruits (cherries, plums, blueberries) and mild spices, wrapped up in a delicate woody aroma.
Palate : a full and juicy flavour of ripe cherries and red pepper. The structure remains balanced and elegant. The long and fresh finale draws on dense and silky tannins.
Classification alfavin.ch : Full red : This wine has great structure, round tannins and a lingering flavour. Moreover, it is warm, full and rich.
Alcool : 13.5%
Vinification : Two weeks of fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by a second fermentation on a marc made of Rigoverno grapes left on the vine, then 12 months maturing in 500-l barrels made of French oak.
Meals : Bolognese pasta, meats in sauce, pizza and strong cheeses.
Aging Potential : 7-10 years.
